Saws, screws and sofas!
I recently went on a DIY course in Dorset for the weekend. A great course run by a chap called Scott who taught us how to dismantle pallets and build a box with hand and power tools. My mission of the weekend was to create pallet furniture to hire out for the business.
With Scott’s help, I made what can only be described as a garden pallet throne complete with drink holders, a must have at your next garden party! I was also taught how to wire a plug and made a cool copper pipe floor lamp.
I know what you’re thinking, well they’re all basics skills, but I hadn’t been taught them before, so for me this was a great achievement and amazing skills to now have, I’ve got ideas flooding out my mind (and Pinterest page!)
After raiding the husband’s tools, I popped down to Toolstation and started stocking up on my own screws and extra tools. Rhino is now kitted out as a proper work van!
So I set out to make my pallet sofas! I tested my mum and Ash on the sofas (they are definitely the perfect little and large comparisons!) to see how high they needed to be. The back slots into the seat, and leans backward to really have a comfy sofa feel along with the some cushions mum recovered for me.
I’ve got some great feedback and they’ve become very useful. Next project I’m thinking poser tables and bar stools… watch this space.
